Ahhh…Bucket List! Regardless of having your goals written down or not, chances are you have a “Before you die” bucket list. Maybe you want to conquer your fear of heights or try a new food. Maybe there is a place you’ve always wanted to travel to or a hobby that you would like to pick up. Thinking about the things in your life that you would like to experience are an excellent way to get started on your Bucket List plans. I even talk about making a bucket list in “How To Fall In Love With Your Duty Station”. Creating a bucket list, for me, helped me to make the most out of where I am stationed and gave me a ton of memories to look back on even when I leave this place. Plus, most people complete them much easier than a New Year resolution. The point of a Bucket List is to remain inspired and have some form of a goal to look forward to as you go throughout the year. That’s why I have created my 2018 Bucket List to not only hold myself accountable and fill my 2018 year with adventure and experiences but to also inspire you to find your own journey this year!
Travel
All Florida Keys +Dry Tortugas
If you’ve read my “How we saw Key West in 10 Hours” post then you know how much I absolutely love Key West and all it has to offer! Since we’ve lived in Florida, I have only been able to visit Key West and Key Largo. So, this year I will make it my business to road trip from Miami to The Florida Keys trying all the best food, staying at the best accommodations and taking pictures along the way. Also, I am dying to get to the Dry Tortugas which is a small island National Park 70 miles from the coast of Key West and IT’S FULL OF SEA TURTLES!!
New York City/New Jersey (Carlos Bakery)
Who doesn’t want to go to New York City? I’m ready for a taste of city life in the big apple. I want to be super touristy visiting Times Square and Central Park. Then I will slide my way into New Jersey for Carlos Bakery. Am I the only one who drools watching Cake Boss?
Washington, DC
Washington, DC is one of the best places for Museum Buffs. I am so excited to go and take in all the history especially for FREE!
San Antonio & Corpus Christi, Texas
I have never been to San Antonio, Texas but after my husband’s rave reviews of the city, we have decided to take an extended trip and explore the area. I am excited for the authentic Mexican food, River Walk and Alamo. I am also taking a side trip to Corpus Christie to go to the Selena Museum. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Selena so I cannot leave Texas without going to visit.
Bahamas
Living in Miami, the Bahamas is extremely close to us, ONLY 50 MILES!! I would be crazy to leave Miami and never make It to the Bahamas so we are planning two trips this year. The first will be to Bimini which is the closest part to us and we can go via Catamaran. The second place is Nassau which we are planning to fly or cruise. Atlantis has always been on my husband’s bucket list and we are planning to make it happen this year.
Canada
In the past few years I have been trying to get to Canada. There are so many places that I wish to visit but this year will finally be my year. We are planning to go to Toronto or Niagara Falls and I cannot wait to get there!
Activities
Parasailing
My number one Bucket List activity goal is to go Parasailing. I am a bit of a thrill seeker. Heights + Ocean Views is #Goals so I am looking forward to parasailing soon.
Learn How to Swim
As much as I like to pretend that I am a mermaid, I can’t actually swim. My swimming abilities are sad to be honest with you. I would like to finally take class and learn to swim properly. Learning to swim is my first step towards scuba diving in the future.
Hot Air Balloon Ride
I have always wanted to go to the Hot Air Balloon festival in New Mexico but I recently discovered that there are places in Florida where I can go for a hefty price year- round. Again, being the thrill seeker that I am, the heights plus amazing views puts this activity on my bucket list!
Visit the Beach for a sunrise
There are few things more beautiful than sunrise and sunset at the beach. It’s not that big of a bucket list item but waking up for the beach sunrise would be an ideal way to start my morning.
Increase Fluency in Spanish
For the past year, I have been struggling to become fluent in Spanish. My son probably knows more Spanish than I do but this year we are changing that. I really would like to use my Spanish with confidence in everyday conversation. My tutor will be my new best friend.
Complete 100 Acts of Kindness
I have done acts of kindness before and there is truly no better feeling than making the day of someone else. I know that even the little things count so this year I am planning to do 100 acts of kindness even if I do not complete the other items on this list.
Write a Book
In my New Year…What’s Next? Post about my 2018 personal and blog goals, I briefly discuss my goal of writing a book. For years, I have been saying that I want to become a published author but I never put forth the effort and next steps to getting this accomplished. With more time on my hands, I am making it my business to begin pre-writing my book and I am so excited to be able to share what I come up with.
Take a Cooking/Baking Class
Growing up, we always ate out at restaurants so when I got married, it was my first experience really discovering that I truly enjoyed cooking and baking. That’s why I am looking to take more hobby classes and that includes cooking and baking. I want to learn how to decorate cakes and cook international cuisines.
There you have it! This is my 2018 Bucket List and I look forward to checking each one off my list one by one. Of course, I will be taking you guys with me as I complete them so make sure that you subscribe to the blog and follow me on social media to see how this year unfolds.
