Old Hollywood Meets the Nation’s Capital at Washington Hilton Hotel
With Washington, DC being such a heavy tourism destination, it can be easy to become overwhelmed with the accommodations and what each of them offer. As many of you know, during Military Spouse Appreciation Week we took an extended vacation in Washington, DC. In our 7- day trip, we were able to split our time between 2 Hilton properties (Click HERE to read) and experience the best of both worlds. While one property was swanky and newly renovated, the Washington Hilton Hotel transported us to an Old Hollywood experience right in the middle of our Nation’s Capital. Our stay at Washington Hilton had charm straight out of the 1930s except with modern amenities. With its top to bottom glitz appeal, it was easy to forget what city or era we were in. Here’s why the Washington Hilton should be on your DC Travel radar…

Washington Hilton Hotel: Ground Level
Upon entry to the Washington Hilton Hotel, we were greeted by a gorgeous chandelier. I couldn’t help but to marvel over its beauty while checking in at the Hilton Honors desk. This one center piece set the tone for this hotel’s charming interior décor. Although it was renovated in 2017, the Hilton team did an amazing job of keeping its original 20thcentury designs. On the main level, you’ll find the perfect mix between nostalgia and modern amenities.
Antique rounded seating accompanies the free business and printing center for your convenience. Retro styled bars and restaurants can also be found on this level. We had the pleasure of dining at the McClellan’s Sports Bar (Yes, it is family friendly) one night and although it was expensive, it’s worth noting that the Salmon Caesar salad is PHENOMENAL!
This Hilton location boasts 4 restaurants on property for your convince and all have different specialty dining options. The other dining option we experienced was Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. It is a grab and go bakery for all your breakfast, snack and drink needs. We enjoyed Breakfast from this location twice and indulged ourselves in snacks and frozen coffee drinks to make it through the early mornings.
Washington Hilton Hotel: Accommodations
Whether you’re staying 1 night or an entire week, the most important aspect of a hotel stay is indeed the room. I am happy to report that they did not disappoint! The vintage feel of the hotel was also executed in the guest rooms. Soft golden & tan tones and espresso woods surrounded the room giving off vibes of luxury and comfort.
Speaking of comfort, Hilton always goes the extra mile to make sure that their rooms not only look lux but feel that way as well. All rooms boast the Hilton Serenity Bed which is allergen free, high thread count sheets and a custom mattress. Let me tell you, the name doesn’t do it justice. This was yet another time I wish the bed could have come home with me. Some of the other room amenities included: a flat screen television, complimentary coffee and teas, A work desk, premium television stations, and more.
The bathroom was also nice and flowed with the feel of the room. With slightly dimmed lights, Crabtree and Evelyn Bath Products and the free body scrubber, I kind of felt like bath time was spa time and that’s exactly how you should feel on vacation.
The guest rooms are fairly small but a perfect size for our little family. If you’re in need of more space, I would suggest upgrading to a suite or executive style room to fit your family’s needs or click HERE for another Hilton recommendation. Should you choose to make your DC experience a couple’s only vacation, I feel that the Washington Hilton guest rooms are quite intimate and romantic.
Washington Hilton Hotel: Amenities
The next important thing about a hotel is amenities! You’ll want your money worth of amenities included in your stay. The Washington Hilton Hotel has great amenities and perks to offer, giving you the most bang for your buck. Above, I mentioned that this location has 4 restaurants on site. This gives you plenty of options should you decide to not leave the hotel for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The Washington Hilton Hotel also offers plenty of common area spaces. Just outside the back of the lobby area. There you’ll find a fire pit and comfy sitting areas.
The Terrace level also offers a swimming pool with lap lanes and an open pool area and Jacuzzi. This is located right outside of the highly functional fitness center. There you’ll find all your favorite fitness equipment and work out classes some days to help you avoid the pesky vacation pounds. Also on this level, you’ll find an information desk for site seeing tours and information. Conveniently, the stop for Big Bus Tours in right outside the hotel. Here you’ll load the large double-decker bus for an automated tour of the Washington, DC.

Washington Hilton Hotel: What You Should Know
This beautiful hotel is just moments away from some of DC’s most enjoyable attractions and dining/shopping options. As I noted in a previous DC post, parking in DC is EXPENSIVE and should be planned for and budgeted in travel costs accordingly! This location is no exception, self-parking is $47 a day but I assure you that this is the district standard and it is unlikely to find other accommodations with cheaper parking. For your convenience and safety, The Washington Hilton has provided a self- parking garage which is accessible by hotel elevator. To get more bang for your parking buck, I highly suggest walking or traveling via Uber or Tour Buses such as Big Bus.
It is worth noting that the Washington Hilton Hotel is indeed a legendary hotel and it is always busy but not in a way to disturb its guests. The hotel boasts being involved with numerous historical events such as presidential inaugural balls. Fast Fact: Right outside the hotel, President Ronald Regan was shot in an assassination attempt by John Hinckley Jr.If you walk along the terrace level ballroom doors, you’ll find digital placards with historical facts about the hotel. Just by staying here, you’re adding to your DC tourism experience.
Well, that’s it for my mini tour and Review of the Washington Hilton Hotel. If you’re visiting the DC area for a family vacation, couples trip or work, the Washington Hilton Hotel should certainly be on your travel radar. The hotel is lux, comfortable, boasts historic charm and that classically amazing customer service and experience that you can expect from any stay at a Hilton Worldwide Hotel. I am looking forward to my next adventure with Hilton Hotels and hope that you’ll join me at the Washington Hilton!
