Old Key West is a quaint and vibrant town filled with history, culture and views that only God could have painted himself. At Casa Marina Resort in Key West, Florida, you’ll step into early 1900s Key West and all its charm. Casa Marina Resort: History
In the Early 1900s, Railroad millionaire Henry Flagler set out to build a railroad from Mainland Florida through the Florida Keys. With the success of the railroad, he had an idea to build a beautiful place to accommodate his family and wealthy railroad travelers that sat right on the coast of Key West. Although he never got to see the construction, the spirit of his vision still lives on nearly 100 years later through the timeless luxury displayed at this Waldorf Astoria hotel.
Casa Marina Resort: Arrival
I’m a sucker for luxury hotels but this place was like nothing I’ve ever seen. At first glance of the lobby, you almost feel like you’ve been teleported to the roaring 20s. The space is warm. You’re greeted by dark wooden tones, the delicious Casa Marina signature scent and a warm welcome from the check in staff.

In the lobby, you’ll find lounging areas which are perfect for relaxing until your 4pm check in time if you happen to arrive early. Also in the main lobby, you’ll find a mini rum bar to get your vacation started, if that’s your thing. There is a gift shop on site that not only offers your travel essentials but also hand crafted local items, sweet treats like gelato or a miniature shopping experience. (Tip: The Gift Shop also sells the signature Casa Marina scent. I promise, you’ll fall in love with this place and want to take a piece of it home with you. Buy it!)
Casa Marina offers many options for dining on property but the most impressive can be found in the main building. If you’re a bunch lover like I am, your haven can be found at the breakfast buffet on the terrace. Imagine a room full of your favorite crafted breakfast items and the options are ENDLESS. There are made to order omelets, towers of bacon, all kinds of fruits, pastries to die for, freshly squeezed juices and much more.
I would be here all day if I had to list every item offered. I’d say that the $20+ a person for breakfast with an ocean view is worth it if you’re a foodie and ooze at the idea of eating in paradise.
A grab and go option is Flagler’s Cafe which has salads, snacks and coffees. Word has it that Rambler’s will be transformed in the next few months to a sophisticated craft cocktail spot. I’m sure it will be a hit to travelers looking to enjoy a drink and mingle.
What Makes Casa Marina Resort Magical?
The original architecture of the hotel has been preserved yet you’re showered with modern amenities. In the past, I couldn’t wait to get up to my room and relax but here, it’s quite the opposite. Just outside the entry, you’ll be whisked away to pure paradise. What makes this resort so special is the 6 and ½ acres of prime real estate that it sits on.
At Casa Marina Resort, you’re in for a once in a lifetime experience as it sits on a private beach at the coast of Key West. There are endless areas of lounge chairs, hammocks and comfy cabanas waiting to host you and your family along the beach.
If pools are more your speed, this property boasts two ocean front pools (1 Family friendly and 1 Adult Only) as well as private cabanas for rental at your convenience. Each area looks like something out of a luxury travel magazine, yet the resort is family friendly and suitable for members of every age of interest. Also in the pool area, you’ll find an open air “toes in the sand” bar and grill called Sun- Sun.
Casa Marina Resort: Accommodations
You’ll delight in the classic décor and comfy beds that you can always expect from a Hilton Hotel. Plush mattresses and bed linens will make it hard to get out of bed in the morning.
With a luxury resort like this, it can be hard to pull yourself away from the beach to slumber but luckily, there are options of guest rooms and suites that have large ocean front balconies.
Start your day with the standard in room Nespresso coffee and tea machine or your favorite drink and fruit. Grab a good book and coffee and head out to the balcony to take in the Ocean View…This is the life!
