This past December, we spent two days in Miami prior to heading off on a Bahamian cruise with Royal Caribbean. After two years of living in Miami as locals, this time we planned to explore the area as tourists and a part of that was staying at one of Miami’s Best Family Friendly Luxury Hotels near Port of Miami, The Doubletree Grand.

This stunning hotel is located on a water front property with views of Key Biscayne, views of the Miami Skyline and Port of Miami. The Grand is the perfect accommodation for families looking to have luxurious qualities without breaking the bank during a Vacation in Miami or Pre/Post Cruise sailings. This hotel is one of our favorites because of its accessibility, amenities and the top quality of the Doubletree by Hilton that we know, love and trust.

Staying at the Doubletree Grand gives you an option of your stay-two ways. For a larger family looking to visit the Miami area pre or post cruise, The Grand offers a 1,2,3 and 4 Bedroom condominium style residence. If you’re a family who enjoys the amenities of an Airbnb and the luxury of a hotel then these are the properties for you.
Our stylish two –bedroom/two- bathroom condo did not disappoint! We traveled with an extended family member and thoroughly enjoyed having a common area to enjoy each other’s company while having separate bedrooms for comfort. If you’re traveling with a large family or preparing to sail with extended family/friends, choosing the condo style and splitting the cost makes it a great option.
For us, a huge component of luxury is the amenities and the views. The condos come complete with washer and dryer for your convenience. This was such a useful touch because it allowed us to travel to the Bahamas with clean clothing after staying in Miami for several days.
The second luxurious feature was the bathrooms. The master bedroom came with a stand- alone tub and rain head shower. These touches along with the Doubletree’s highly rated Crabtree and Evelyn products made for a spa like feel.
Speaking of views, staying on the upper floors guarantees you no shortage of amazing views. The Doubletree Grand has around 80% of rooms with a water view. We enjoyed stunning sunrises and sunsets right from our balcony that extended from the living room to the guest and master bedrooms. The nighttime skyline is just as good to enjoy if you’re a night owl.
Another one of my favorite amenities for the condos is safety and security. Throughout my stay, I felt extremely safe knowing that there was additional security for condo guests and residents. At check in, we were presented with wrist bands that let security know we were guests in that tower. In todays age, you can never be too safe while traveling and that feature took a huge load off my anxiety and made us extremely comfortable!
Doubletree Grand Suite Style Hotel Rooms
Upon returning from our cruise, we also had the pleasure of staying in the traditional Doubletree Suite Style Hotel Room. Our King Bedroom was just as stunning as the Condo with modern style touches and more great wrap around views of Biscayne Bay.
For a smaller family of three like ours, I highly recommend staying in one of these newly renovated rooms. In true Doubletree fashion, the room was extremely spacious and came complete with a mini bar, comfortable lounging/sitting area and an extremely comfortable signature Sweet Dreams Bed with Plush Bedding.

The Doubletree Grand has no shortage of amenities to accommodate your family’s stay. Upon check in, guests can expect to receive the signature Doubletree hot cookies that we all know and love. Hilton Honors members will receive complimentary bottled water and upper tier members can expect to receive complimentary vouchers for breakfast for two at a specialty dining restaurant.
Doubletree Biscayne Bay Restaurants
Speaking of restaurants, there are plenty of restaurants near Doubletree Grand Miami including 4 restaurants and a Deli right on property. With our breakfast voucher, we enjoyed a nice solution of breakfast plates at Primo’s Italian Restaurant and Lounge. However, the true star of Primo’s Menu is the dinner options. Primo’s is an authentic Italian restaurant with handmade Pasta dishes to die for. Here, my husband and I enjoyed the Meatball Appetizer and best Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp that we have ever had in our lives.

Additionally, the property has a plethora of dining and shopping options with the adjoining Grand Retail Plaza. Dining options range from 5 star steakhouses to seafood, quick grabs and desserts. The plaza also offers various shopping boutiques and a rental car facility for your convenience.
If you’re looking for other amenities to enjoy on property, your family would enjoy a scenic swim on the pool deck, a quick work out session at the Fitness Center or Tennis Court or maybe take on a water/boating excursion for the day.
