A Mom’s Guide to Back to College Fashion with Walmart

It’s August! In all honesty, I can’t figure out where the year went. One minute, we were surviving the Polar vortex and waiting impatiently for summer and now, it’s time to head back to school/college. While other moms are gathering a mile-long list of school supplies and gearing up for car pool lane, I am preparing to return to college… AGAIN! This time I have my sights set on receiving my Master’s Degree and boy am I in for a 13- month journey.

As I’m gearing up for school, I decided to reward myself and ease the pressure by going Back to College shopping at my local Walmart. Although, I am in college untraditionally by completing classes online, I’ll take any excuse to up my fashion (even if that means wardrobe shopping for virtual class meetings). Plus, Walmart’s new Time and Tru line is my jam.

Here’s how you can get ready for Back to College at your local Walmart.

Back to College Events at Walmart

Walmart has always been a one stop shop for everything from groceries to clothing and electronics. In addition, you can’t beat their everyday low prices and affordability for every budget. But did you know that they have everything you could possibly need for Back to College?

Walmart is hosting Back to College events across the nation on 8/17, 8/24, and 8/31. These Walmart events are designed to give you inspiration for the college year, get exclusive deals like an Uber voucher and purchase all your necessities for success. Not only did I pick up awesome fashions but I also picked up a planner, iPad and Google Home mini to keep up with my busy schedule. Are you heading back to college or have a child attending this year? Check out the Walmart Event locator to find Back to College Events near you.

Walmart Back to College Fashion Finds

Here are my Walmart Fashion Finds from Time and Tru + How I plan to use them as an untraditional student and transitioning into the fall months.

Plaid Prints

One of the first stylish prints that come to mind in the fall is plaid prints. Walmart’s Time and Tru line offers a variety of plaid prints in a wide array of colors for under $20. I love these button-down shirts because they are light weight, perfect for layering during the season change and a perfect transition from work to school and vice versa.

Sweaters and Cardigans

My absolute favorite part of fall fashion is bringing out my stylist sweaters and cardigans. You can easily use them to layer and transition from the summer to fall and into winter. They also come in handy if you’re a traditional student and wanting to avoid the cold classroom. Cardigans are always my go to when taking a simple jeans and shirt outfit and dressing it up a bit. Walmart has a large variety of colors and styles for their sweaters and cardigans ranging from $10-$20.

Time and Tru Footwear

I’ve fallen completely in love with the Time and Tru clothing line at Walmart but I just recently discovered that Time and Tru also offers footwear and it’s incredible. Not only do they have stylish options such as these leopard print pull on sneakers but they are extremely comfortable and under $15. These Time and Tru sneakers have memory foam insoles and it feels like walking on clouds. These come in multiple colors and are perfect for long walks to class for traditional students.

Bags and Accessories

As a non- traditional student and entrepreneur, I spend a lot of time at coffee shops when my husband gets home to get some “me” time and get work done without my toddler. I knew that I would need the perfect bag and accessory like a book bag with laptop sleeve to make my laptop and work portable. This super cute faux leather bag was under $25 and has everything I need to store my electronics, planner and pens. If you’re heading back to college this semester, I suggest you run (not walk) to your local Walmart and snag some of these amazing deals and steals + get some inspiration by attending the Back to College at Walmart events near you!
