What is Included at Perfect Day at Coco Cay?
Free Things to Do at Coco Cay: Coco Cay Beaches
The very first thing we did after disembarking the cruise was head to the beach. Coco Cay has a variety of beaches for you to enjoy around the island. Chill Island is located on the East side of the island. You can find gorgeous marine life and perfect day at Coco Cay snorkeling. Bring your own snorkel gear and its completely FREE. Dive in to find a Sunken plane, ship or watch beautiful fish swim by. Lagoon Beach is in the center of the island and makes for a great spot to take a dip after eating lunch. South Beach Coco Cay is a bit more secluded and much more quiet than the others. This one makes a good spot to read a book or do some relaxing.
The beauty of visiting a private island is that it is never crowded. No fighting for beach chairs and plenty of space to enjoy the water regardless of which beach you choose. On the day that we visited, our cruise was the only one in port so we essentially had an entire island to ourselves. We grabbed three beach chairs with no fuss and there was absolutely no reason to get off the ship super early in the morning to secure a spot. The Free beach chairs at Coco Cay offers a variety and they are all comfortable and nicely shaded with umbrellas. There is simply no reason to pay the extra unless you want to splurge on an upscale experience.
Free Things to Do at Coco Cay: Oasis Lagoon Pool Coco Cay
While we do love the beach for a couple of hours, it was time for a change in scenery and less sand so we headed to the Oasis lagoon pool. The Oasis lagoon pool at Coco Cayis the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean and it’s such a good time. Again, there are plenty of free beach chairs to enjoy and great upbeat music. The pool also has underwater speakers so you can enjoy the music even while swimming. We all enjoyed our time in the pool and it was much less stressful than being at the beach with open water and marine life with a toddler. Through, both are extremely enjoyable. This was another place on the island that we didn’t have to pay an extra dime for.
What Food is Included at Coco Cay?
One of the best things about cruising is the all- inclusive delicious food varieties. Coco Cay is no exception. Because Coco Cay is Royal Caribbean’s Private Island, there are multiple places on the island to get free food and snacks. The Chill Grilland Skippers Grill Coco Cayare the main dining areas on the Island. They are located on either side of the island for your convenience and pretty much serve the same thing. At both locations, you can enjoy buffet style varieties and it’s all pretty tasty. You will find a selection of BBQ chicken, Burgers, Fries, Hot Dogs, Salads and Make it yourself tacos, burritos and more. There is also a variety of fresh island fruits, a spread of deserts and all you can eat ice cream in three flavors. If you avoided purchasing a drink package, the island does have free water and juice options for your enjoyment FREE of charge.
If you’re looking for a snack on the go, there are two complimentary snack shacks to visit. The menu here is much smaller but they still offer a variety of goodies to choose from like: Burgers, fries, salads, funnel cake and other desserts.
Free Things to Do at Coco Cay with Kids: Splash Away Bay at Coco Cay
If you’re traveling to Coco Cay with toddlers or kids, you will be happy to know that the island has a ton of areas designated specifically to little ones. The Splash Away Bay at Coco Cay was a favorite for my toddler because it offered plenty of water activities like water squirters, slides, drench buckets and mini pools to keep him busy all day. While there were plenty of areas for parents to sit and watch little ones play, my husband and I found it more fun to jump in and splash around with him.
Another free activity for kids is Captain Jill’s Galleon. This Free play area for kids is near arrivals plaza. You can’t miss the giant ship. Inside is a small play area for kids with slides and climbing area but they can also splash around and shoot off water cannons on the outside.
Free Things to Do at Coco Cay: Live Music at Captain Jack’s Bar
All around the island, you’ll find live music but if you really need a cool shaded beach break; head over to Captain Jack’s Bar. The bar is an open- air concept and has a decent sized seating area that is never crowded. Our favorite was the chair swings. We sat there nearly an hour listening to live music and a few people even tried Karaoke. It was great entertainment. The drinks and food in this area is not free but you can visit one of the snack shacks and grab a bite before going to Captain Jack’s to keep it cost free.
What is Free at Coco Cay? Other Free Amenities
The Island has a ton of other Free Amenities for guest convenience and activities for you to enjoy. Along with the massive number of beach chairs, you can also find a ton of hammocks to swing and relax in around the island. They are first come, first serve but there are plenty and most were empty while we were on the island. Take a break and enjoy beachy views.
On South Beach, there is a sports court free of charge that offers activities like Basketball, Beach Volleyball and Some Free Fitness Classes. If you’re looking for a place to be active, this is your spot.
Finally, if you’re a parent of a little one or traveling with someone special needs; the island has more than enough to accommodate. There are island trams that run all day long. They go from the ship and through the entire island which is great to avoid the long walks or take a break and enjoy the breeze. Also, there are free beach wheel chairs and strollers to make the beach accessible to families who need the extra help. Additionally, you can avoid carrying around all your items all day long. The island has free lockers for you to use to secure your items and enjoy the trip hands free. Kids tend to need a lot of stuff so this is a true bonus.
