Does Costco Offer a Military Discount?

Does Costco Offer a Military Discount? Yes, and the Holiday Season is the PERFECT time to start Membership!

Christmas is upon us. In just three short weeks, we’ll be sharing gifts by the Christmas tree and hosting the ones we love for the holidays. As fun and festive as the holidays are, I have to admit that they can be a bit stressful. Especially, when it’s your turn to host. Not only do you have to gather gifts for the family and friends, but you have to stock up on essential items around the house and plan holiday meals for your guests. Let’s not forget about the company potlucks and military events that require you to do more work than you want to. Needless to say, I love a good one stop shop and Costco happens to be a holiday season saving grace. Keep reading to learn about Costco’s discounted military membership and how I’m using Costco to save the holidays!

This post is sponsored by Costco Wholesale. However, all opinions are my own. For more information regarding our policies, click HERE!

Lots of people wonder if Costco offers a military discount, and beyond that, they wonder if it is worth skipping shopping at the commissary to venture out to Costco. We have the scoop on everything you need to know about Costco's Military Membership. #costco #military #militarydiscount

I know what you’re thinking. “The commissary and exchange are super convenient”. While this may be true if you live near a military base, nothing beats the ability to shop in bulk for all your needs and the exclusive deals you get with being a Costco member. For that reason, I’m willing the drive the extra couple of miles to get some shopping done. Plus, Costco offers a discounted membership for Military families and I’m all about saving a dollar or a million.

Wait…Does Costco offer a Military Discount?

Yes! Actually, they do and the holidays are the perfect time to consider purchasing a membership! With Costco’s military discount, all members of the Armed Forces/ families and veterans can save over $60 in membership fees. Traditional memberships can range anywhere from $60 to $120 a year so you’re catching major savings which is a win win! Purchasing a military membership is not only cost effective but you also gain access to exclusive (members only) deals and offers for in store and online shopping. Costco offers TONS of discounted rates for electronics, holiday gifts and even travel. That’s right, you can give the gift of a Caribbean island vacation this holiday season at a discounted rate just for having a Costco membership.

How I’m saving MAJOR money with Costco this Holiday Season

In one stop, I can head to Costco to pick up my household needs for my guests as well as all their gifts in BULK. When you’re having a house full of people for the holidays, there are a million and one things on your shopping list. For us, that includes things like: Paper plates, cups, napkins, toilet tissue (lots of that) and paper towels. I can also head over to the goods section and pick up Christmas gifts, inexpensive beautiful Christmas trees, home décor and much more. Good news for those with holiday anxiety, Costco has an online shop that allows you to get these same items delivered right to your front step. Here are a few items that I picked up for my family members.

Throw Blankets:

I don’t know about you but I can never get too many throw blankets and pillows. Costco offers many variation of throw blankets like the Sunbeam Heated Throw which is perfect for a cold winter night to cuddle and warm up. They also offer the luxurious Life Throw Ultimate Sherpa Throw Blanket 2- Pack! This is by far one of my favorite Christmas pick- ups. For the cost of one blanket, you can receive two extra plush Sherpa throw blankets to give as Christmas presents and EVERYONE would love to receive this for sure. To be honest, I am considering keeping the other one for myself.

Sweets and Treats:

The holidays are the perfect excuse to indulge in decorative sweets and treats. Costco offers an assortment of chocolates, cakes, pies and chocolate covered sweets like these chocolate covered strawberries. These treats offer specialty designs for Christmas or any other holiday that you can think of and make the perfect gift for anyone on your list…including yourself. I personally enjoyed them after my son and husband went to bed (Treat Yo’self) but I’ll be ordering more for my loved ones this holiday season.

Gift Sets and Towers:

Who doesn’t love a good gift set? I mean really, gift sets SAVE THE DAY when holiday gift exchanges and Secret Santas’ come around. I actually like to pick up a few and have them on hand just in case I get invited to something like that or someone gives me an unexpected gift. Gift sets give you the freedom of stress free shopping but they also come in themes for the people on your list who LOVE a certain brand. The two gift sets that I picked up this Holiday season were the Starbucks and Godiva holiday towers. First of all, who doesn’t love Starbucks or Chocolate? With these two gift towers, you can’t lose. Both come with holiday mugs, coffee/ hot chocolate and sweet treats in keeping with the holiday spirit. You can keep the towers in one piece or break them down into multiple gifts. SIMPLE!

While you’re in the thick of holiday shopping, consider signing up for a Costco membership and be sure to present your military ID to take advantage of the discount and major savings. If you’re already a Costco member, what’s your favorite way to use your membership during the Holiday Season?

A 2019 article by @thehill sited a survey conducte A 2019 article by @thehill sited a survey conducted by One Poll which found that 11% of Respondents have never left their home state . Another 54% of respondents have traveled to 10 states or less! 😱 We’ve personally seen in our family how the older generation grew comfortable staying in their birth state and never desired to travel or leave for good but our time in the Military and passion for travel has encouraged us to change the mold and explore all 50 states and beyond . ———————-
When we started traveling with our son and writing out our travel bucket list , International travel Was for sure on our list but we’ve never forced it . We’ve learned to not only be content but excited about exploring our own home country . The goal is to let the trip choose us and go where the deal is . One of my absolute favorite things about the United States is how diverse an experience you can have within the 50 states and territories. ————
The point that I’m getting at is even though travel restrictions are growing and discouraging , don’t let it make you complacent in your travel journey . Don’t miss the opportunity for a new and exciting experience just because it’s not International. You’ll be surprised at the beauty you discover and how a city or state that wasn’t on your radar gives you the most memorable experience. —————-
How old were you when you first traveled outside of your home state ? Also, what state/ city surprised you the most ? Leave it in the comments below ! •
