7 Military Families Share Why They Appreciate Being In The Military

Thanksgiving is upon us but did you know that November is also Military Family Appreciation Month? Military families often sacrifice by supporting their service members, uprooting their lives to move around every 18 months to 3 years and more. Being a military family is difficult yet rewarding and we appreciate the experiences that we have during our service member’s years of duty. During this month of Thanksgiving and appreciation for life, 7 Military families share why they appreciate being in the Military.

7 Military Families Share Why They Appreciate Being In The Military

–Wendy Iacobello, Strength for Spouses https://strength4spouses.blog/

We are grateful for the opportunity to be a military family for many reasons. It is truly an honor to be a part of this community. While military life is forever changing, we truly appreciate the financial stability the military life provides for our family.

Five things we love about being a military family are:

  1. The unmatched mental, physical and spiritual care and support system that we have in different arenas to care for our families through organizations like Army Community Services, Army Medical Services, The Chaplain Corps and the Family Readiness Group is like no other organization.
  2. Having the opportunity to live in different places and decide if we want to return to that location in a future assignment or for retirement.
  3. The ability to adapt and overcome adversities no matter the situation.
  4. The education benefits for the whole family.
  5. The pride we feel in being a military family, reinforced by community

support, corporate companies and other organizations that always make us feel welcomed no matter the state and city, there is always local support.

The Military lifestyle is not an easy one.  It comes with its share of challenges.  What I love about being a Military family is that we are able to instill world culture into our children through unique travel opportunities and experiences. To raise good humans who are open-minded and selfless is something that I am grateful for.

Being a military family gives us the opportunity to see different parts of the country. We love getting to learn and explore each place the military moves us to. Moving can be hard, but each place we live is a new adventure and the friends we have made, make it all worth it. Even if saying goodbye to friends is the hardest part of military life.

Thanks to my husband, I’m part of a unique, challenging, and fun military world. I forged friendships that feel like family, volunteer in our FRG, and pushed my limits in ways I wouldn’t have otherwise. I joined a local public speaking club. The members there encouraged me to sign up for speaking gigs which led me to give a talk in Amsterdam, Netherlands! The security in my husband’s job allows me to take risks in my own life that I don’t think would have happened if it weren’t for the Army. Quit my job to join a tech startup? Go for it! Leave the startup to be a full-time mom for our son? Please do. Being military has widened my world view and I’m privileged to be a part of it.

Being a military family means our lives look a little different than our neighbors. Our kids don’t know which state they will live in next or where they will attend high school. But, the military has provided an adventure for our family that we wouldn’t have had otherwise, and our kids are building lifelong resiliency. Moving to a new command pushed us outside of our comfort zones to make new friends and start over. And now those friends are a deeply treasured part of our lives and I’m grateful every day for our new community. Being separated from our service member for months on end during a deployment was achingly tough, but there is nothinglike a military homecoming. I truly appreciate being a military family and the opportunities it has provided our family as well as the pride in knowing my spouse is serving the country well.

Why we appreciate being in the military: Our family appreciates being in the military because it gives us the chance for new adventures, discovering new places and making each day count/not taking for granted the time we get to spend with each other.

Come with us to Visit Universal Studios Hollywood Come with us to Visit Universal Studios Hollywood for the First Time | Like, Share, Save, Comment | As former East Coasters we’ve been to Universal Studios Orlando city walk but never @unistudios Ej is older now and we figured that we would finally get our money’s worth in the park. So, we booked it as apart of his Christmas present . If you’re on the fence about booking a universal studios vacation, here are some tips and things I wish I knew prior to going : 🌎 The price of the park will change based on high traffic / holidays and breaks . Also, military and other discounts are blacked out during these times . That means If youre looking to book during holidays and breaks it will cost significantly more! 🌎 Paying more for the Universal Express is 1000% worth the cost. Because we traveled during Christmas ( a high traffic time) having this pass allowed us to ride everything in the park without waiting in long lines ( More on that in another video ) 🌎 Don’t be afraid to book Universal Hollywood with small children ! We waited thinking that the Hollywood location was like Orlando and that most of it would be thrill rides. However , the Hollywood location is way more family friendly and accessible . Most rides are actually simulations making it safe and easy to ride for most ages. However , use the app to be sure that your child meets height requirements before booking . 🌎 You only need one day! If you do purchase the express or VIP pass then one day is more than enough. Universal Hollywood is broken up by the upper and lower lot but it is not two separate parks like it is in Orlando. One day was enough to explore both upper and lower lots . Actually I recommend one day for the park and just spending a night at city walk! What are you questions on Universal Studios Hollywood? Drop them in the comments ! #universalstudioshollywood #universalstudios #themeparkcreator #themeparks #familytravel #travelwithkids #blackkidsdotravel #blackfamilytravel #hollywood #visithollywood #visitcalifornia @visitcalifornia
Wizarding World of Harry Potter + Tear Jerker Mome Wizarding World of Harry Potter + Tear Jerker Moment 🥹 This was all of our first time at Universal Studios Hollywood but I didn’t expect to get so emotional about my husband buying a wand 😂🥹 Anyway, Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a must see land at @unistudios even if you are not a fan of the Harry Potter Saga ( I am not 😂) it was still a really great experience . Top 3 Experiences inside Wizarding World of Harry Potter: 🪄GET THE BUTTER BEER!! Y’all it was the best thing I had at Universal. Get it frozen too! It makes all the difference . 🪄Ollivander’s Wand Ceremony | This is a free experience but such a fun way to choose a wand or have it choose you! Buying a wand gives you access to more magic inside the land so while it’s an expensive souvenir, it’s worth the purchase 🪄Hogwarts Castle lighting ceremony | Must see show! It takes place most nights throughout the year and times depend on daylight savings . There’s music and lights ✨😍 What’s your favorite land at Universal Studios Hollywood? Leave a comment below ! And check the comments for mine #universalstudioshollywood #universalstudios #themeparkcreator #themeparks #familytravel #travelwithkids #blackkidsdotravel #blackfamilytravel #surprisetrip #hollywood #visithollywood #visitcalifornia @visitcalifornia
✨Everything I Ate at @unistudios in Hollywood ✨ Anyone else visit theme parks for the FOOD?! Between the holidays and the launch of Super Nintendo world coming up, we had some pretty good options This is everything I ate on a trip to Universal Studios Hollywood ✨ Super Nintendo World Super Star Light Up Popcorn Bucket $39.99 + refillable popcorn all day on the day of purchase Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️ popcorn is obviously good and the popcorn bucket is super cute but very expensive . Make it worth the price by filling it up for popcorn every chance you get on the day of purchase ✨Super Nintendo World Mario Fruit Cream Soda $12.00
Rating. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ this drink was super delicious! I wish I could have tried all the flavors and the boba was so GOOD! ✨Pinky’s Hollywood Chilli Dog ( City Walk ) $6.00
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Average tasting Chilli cheese dog but cheaper than the max dog inside the park ✨Butter Beer ( Wizarding World of Harry Potter ) $8.00
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ SO SO GOOD!! The best way to drink this is frozen . I had no idea that it wasn’t real beer 🤦🏾‍♀️😂 but so good and tasted like butterscotch What are you favorite Universal Studios eats ? #universalstudioshollywood #universalstudios #universalstudiosfood #universalstudiosfoodie #supernintendoworld #themeparkcreator #themeparks #hollywood #visithollywood #visitcalifornia @visitcalifornia
